Green-terns
Westchester Parks Foundation engages the public to advocate for and invest in the preservation, conservation, use, and enjoyment of the 18,000 acres of parks, trails, and open spaces within the Westchester County Parks system. We believe everyone deserves access to a safe, clean, thriving park, and we encourage stewardship and cultivate pride in our green spaces. Our programs and activities are focused on enhancing our park system and the experience of the community within them. The Volunteer Program is integral to WPF’s mission, leading groups of all sizes through our stewardship initiatives. Since 2015, we have hosted over 12,000 individuals and given over 35,000 hours of service to the park system through our volunteer program. Our Green-terns will focus on invasive plant removal. Volunteers will learn and witness the benefits of invasive plant removal for the environment and surrounding native plant life through first-hand experience. Volunteers will also gain skills using hand tools and a general understanding of invasive species management and their impact on our park system. Invasive plants are an issue throughout the County because they compete with native organisms, reduce biodiversity and alter habitats. Qualifications: • Excellent communication skills • Comfort working in a team-oriented environment • Ability to load/unload tools and supplies to and from events in our truck Personal Qualities: • Positive, professional and accommodating attitude • Ability to interact with all levels of staff and members • High level of integrity • Access to a reliable personal vehicle Build your resume! Camps Cares
About Hunger Campaign
Video above was created by the Village of Mamaroneck Day Camp
In an effort to fight hunger in Westchester County WRAPS launched a “Camps Care About Hunger” campaign. Expanding on efforts from year to year we ask camps to take part in an effort to help feed the hungry.
Our goal is to help feed those in need while promoting our departments and our profession. Hopefully through all of our efforts we will continue to help make an impact in someone’s life that goes beyond the fields or studios.
To participate camps simply:
• Pick a date that works best for you
• Select a food bank/pantry or soup kitchen you wish to support
• Insert your departments name and the benefactor of your choice in flyer provided
• Copy and distribute the flyer
• Collect the items
• Deliver them to the benefactor of your choice
